Be inspired by... the great outdoors

June is here and everything has transformed - plants and shrubs are in full bloom and we’re making the most of the sunny weather by spending more time outside. Everything feels new and fresh, and there’s a friendly buzz of infectious cheerfulness in the air as we all get together to share good times with family and friends.

Gardens aren’t just an outdoor space, they’re an extension of the home and a wonderful place to relax or entertain others. Take a look at our range of outdoor plants and treat a loved one, or even yourself, to a beautiful planter or tree. And whether the garden in mind is large or small, contemporary or traditional, our range of outdoor plants has something for every space.

Outdoor planters

Planters are a great way to bring instant colour to any outdoor space and with a wide range of sizes and prices to choose from, you’re sure to find one that suits.
For a bold statement, pick one of our vibrant single-variety planters such as British Pinks, or if choosing for a hardscaped area, soften the look with a mixed planter to create a miniature retreat.

Best of British

We pride ourselves on supporting British growers whenever possible, and summer
is the perfect opportunity to bring you many British grown flowers and plants.

From June right through to September, we’ll bring you the very best the British summer has to offer. Each month there will be new arrivals as more British flowers and plants come into season.

Coming up for July...

Things will be hotting up in July with our late-summer range of flowers and plants. Look out for vibrant pinks and blues, and fiery oranges and yellows, especially with British Sunflowers and Gladioli. We’ll also be profiling our expert Waitrose Florist, Chris Wood.

Check back soon to find out more.

If you’ve previously bought one of our exclusive and limited volume Emma Bridgewater Jug arrangements, there is now a third to add to your collection. Generously filled with British grown sunflowers, delphiniums and gladioli, this 1.4 litre water jug is decorated with a vibrant sunflower pattern.

Green-fingered gifts

Perfect for gourmets and gardeners alike, our range of culinary plants not only smell divine but will add plenty of flavour too. Position by the back door for easy pickings just when you need them.

Our wide range of standard trees can all be bought individually, ideal for a compact area such as a balcony or courtyard. Alternatively, purchase as a duo and position on either side of a door or path to make an impressive feature.

Chris’ top tip for June...

‘To keep outdoor plants flowering as long as possible, regularly dead-head them as this will encourage new buds. And don’t forget to do the same for herbs, by pinching out the leaves - taking a few minutes everyday will keep everything looking their best.’

Floral Designer Chris Wood has been active in Horticulture and Floristry for over 25 years, and has worked with Waitrose for nearly 15 years.
