In the press

"Hold the phone, this fizz is amazing! With the sea-breeze freshness of the prawns and the salty-smoky tea smoked salmon, this beautifully complex, layered and classy fizz is perfect thanks to its freshness and brightness. When you taste top quality Champagne, you’re looking for billions of tiny elegant bubbles - not those big prickly bubbles you find in fizzy water. And long-lasting flavours too - which this wine delivers to the max. It’s won several awards including two international golds and is absolutely the real deal. Totally spiffing fizz - I salute Waitrose for bringing this splendid bubbly to the world." Olly Smith, 8 December 2011

The Champagne wine region is a historic province in the northeast of France, known for the production of the sparkling wine that bears the region's name. EU law and the laws of most countries reserve the term "Champagne" exclusively for wines that come from this region located about 100 miles (160 km) east of Paris. The towns of Reims and Épernay form the central hubs of the area, with many of the famous Champagne Houses based here.

Located at the northern edges of the wine growing world, the history of the Champagne wine region has had a significant role in the development of this unique terroir. It can only be made from a blend of up to three grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir. The style of champagne can vary significantly, and each of the Houses has their own house style; a formula passed down from generation to generation.
